What is WAWWJ?

It stands for the World Association of Wine Writers and Journalists, it includes web page creators, who come together in order to write about wines from all over the world.

What the WAWWJ does:

1. It makes different members of the media come together to write about wine related topics. The WAWWJ asks from its members that they publish a wine related article from their country, once a year. Articles may be found in the following languages: Spanish, French, English, Italian and Portuguese.

2. Every year it classifies wines and wineries (World Ranking Wines-WRW®) that participate in different International wine contests held around the world. All results of the various contests are published. This classification has been held since 1996 with the purpose of commercial activities and advertising.

The WAWWJ does not make any comments on the results and does not judge the wineries that do not participate in the International contests. It only classifies the ones have participated in wine contests held around the world and puts them in order. It also rewards and encourages all who wish to promote wine consumption in the world. Their products are evaluated anonymously in 75 International Wine contests in 5 continents by the best specialists.

The annual awards are the following:

"Wine of the Year"- "Vino del Año"- "Vin de l´Année": For all wines of the world that reach the minimum of points established every year. For 2012, the minimum is 125 points, an equivalent to four(4) gold medals in different International contests.

All prizes have a diploma that is given to winners.
